Even without the world’s absolute craziness and the intense happenings in America, about 1 in 3 adults in the United States have high blood pressure. The condition itself usually has no signs or symptoms.
Knowing your blood pressure numbers is important, even when you’re feeling fine. Simultaneously, one should know one’s breathing rate because the faster one breathes, the high the pressure will go because fast, shallow breathing drives down CO2 levels, and that constricts the blood vessels.
We live in a world turned upside down, and public health officials are not giving any caring advice. You would think they would get on the horn and tell us to check our blood pressure understanding all the stress would be measurably affecting us. The one positive side of blood pressure is that it is easy to measure.
What is hard for people to understand or appreciate fully is their stress levels. Most of us are good at covering up our stress through a myriad of methods. Personally, my anxiety can be sky high, and yet I feel calm most of the time. Well, to confess, even my meditation and yoga, which I do every day without fail, has not been enough to hold back the tensions, stress, yes, and even fears (and most people who know me know that I am not a man of fear). It is all showing up in my blood pressure, and I bet in yours too. No one is immune to the gathering events, craziness and lies, and the incredible deceit. The mainstream media and digital giants are all in for pulling the rug from under us and wrapping a black band around our eyes.
“US stock market indexes/futures rallied on news that Pfizer’s new COVID-19 vaccine late-stage trials appear to show 90% effective rates. Overall, this is very good news for the US and global market economic recovery efforts. It means we may be able to get back to somewhat normal very quickly (as soon as the Fast-Track FDA approval process is complete).”
Yesterday the stock market shot through the stratosphere on the positive vaccine news. But was this a positive development? First of all, Pfizer’s vaccine appears to be 90 % effective against what exactly. For a virus that is proving to be less dangerous than the typical flu, with survival rates reaching 99.675 percent and reaching for the sky approaching 99.999 percent when one of many effective treatments are employed, it is hard to understand what all the excitement is about.
And it’s a sick joke about this getting back to normal quickly. With much of Europe locking down again and bankruptcies going to the moon and government benefits running out in America and with only more debt to save the day, it is enough to make anyone puke. Of course, I could go on and on with this paragraph, which is why my blood pressure is getting so much attention in my house. I even have two blood pressure machines to focus my attention on the problem.
Many Ways To Control Blood Pressure
There are many ways to control one’s blood pressure, with the worst being pharmaceutical prescriptions. Those who take that route end up on more than one drug because they do not work and do not address the root cause of high blood pressure.
Yet drugs do help. Good thing more and more states are legalizing marijuana because it can be the perfect drug for lowing blood pressure on demand. Just a few puffs and bam, down it goes. But even with this natural medicine, it does not get at the cause.
The most potent, direct, and safe method is breathing retraining. There is nothing more powerful in terms of health as getting a hold of your breathing because it affects not only your body’s physiology but also your mind, emotions, and spirit. There is nothing more important than your next breath because if you do not take it, you are a dead duck in about three minutes. So it should be understood that how you handle that breath, how you breathe is overly important.
But back to drugs. Because breathing is a long-term effort, some that is a day by day, month by month, year by year endeavor, we need something that works instantly when our pressure peaks too high.
Having a Martini, whiskey, or a few beers can do the trick. Better than pharmaceutical and usually almost instant in effect. There are many herbal teas, and of course, everyone should be loading up on magnesium if they want to withstand the stress and avoid a stroke or heart attack! Magnesium will even help with depression and suicidal thoughts if you are going under from everything. That is because magnesium is a neurological mineral, and so many studies have been done to show that effect.
Tapping Into the Vulnerability of Being
Of course, being vulnerable with your feelings can make all the difference. Many years ago, I used the affirmation, “I am in touch with my feelings and share them with others easily.” Being open and honest with your feelings lets some pressure off of your heart and blood pressure. In a world where listening and in-depth, meaningful communication is not modeled; this is excellent advice. Being vulnerable brings on the tears of the melting heart. Those tears are perhaps the ultimate medicine because they are medicine for the soul.
So short-term therapy can be helpful, but nothing is better than having a loved one lend you their ear. In this regard, I offer my readers double for their money on consultations with me because that will give extra time to share heart-related issues after we deal with any medical concerns. If you book a half hour with me, you will get an hour of my time and attention. The same goes for my online clinical program; sign up for plan one and get plan two.
Most do not know that I am a Color Psychologist and a Communication Psychologist and enjoy working closely on intimate issues, including sexuality. One of the main reasons I am so affected by world events is that I am an empath. I have a hard time not identifying with others sufferings, with the increasing despair of humanity. So I am good at giving comfort to others.
